OMT and FSUL launch university basketball and futsal championship finals
In a ceremony held at Beirut Digital District (BDD), OMT and the Lebanese Universities Sports Federation (FSUL) officially launched the finals of the basketball and futsal championships. The event gathered a dynamic mix of sports and academic figures, including coaches and university students. Federation member Charbel Krayem hosted the ceremony, highlighting OMT’s pivotal role in sponsoring the Federation’s championships and supporting its delegations in international competitions.
During the event, Chief Executive Officer of OMT Naji Abou Zeid and FSUL President Ziad Saade participated in a series of panel discussions alongside several key figures, including FSUL General Secretary Omar Bakri, Head of the National FSUL Committee Maroun Khoury, Head Coach of the FSUL National Basketball Team Joe Mojaass, and Technical Director of the FSUL National Futsal Teams Dory Zakhour.
Reflecting on the partnership, Abou Zeid expressed pride in OMT’s support of FSUL, stating: “We are proud of our collaboration with the Federation, which empowers university students to enhance their abilities and skills in sports”. He continued: “At OMT, we recognize the importance of supporting young people and encouraging them to embrace digital solutions. With this in mind, we offered OMT Visa Card for students affiliated with the Federation. This prepaid card, featuring the student’s photo, serves not only as an ID during matches but also as a practical financial tool”.
Saade, for his part, stated: “With OMT, we are fostering a healthier sports community and working towards addressing social challenges. The media plays an essential role in advancing university sports, which is why we are excited to have MTV broadcasting the finals”, he added.
To wrap up the ceremony, Saade presented Abou Zeid with a jersey from the university basketball team, which has earned a spot in next year’s Summer Olympics in Germany, competing alongside 16 other teams from around the globe.
