The Lebanese American University (LAU) and OMT joined forces for a remarkable collaboration, merging creativity with industry needs. On Wednesday, May 29th, 2024, at the LAU Beirut campus' Gezairi Building, the Faculty of Architecture and Design's Fashion Design Program held an award ceremony for the "OMT Frontliners Uniform Design" competition.
Dr. Elie Haddad, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design, spoke on behalf of LAU President Dr. Michel Moawad. He emphasized the initiative's significance in providing students with a unique opportunity to refine their skills and introduce their designs to the real world.
This sentiment was echoed by Silia Abou Arbid, Director of the Fashion Design Program. She applauded the initiative for its role in preparing students to confidently and successfully navigate the job market.
Dr. Rudy Keyrouz, OMT's Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, paid tribute to the late Toufic Moawad, former Chairman of OMT's Board of Directors. He emphasized Mr. Moawad's unwavering commitment to fostering collaboration with the educational sector. Dr. Keyrouz highlighted Mr. Moawad's vision, which championed nurturing innovation, community development, and believing in the potential of Lebanese youth.
The ceremony featured presentations by five talented third-year students who showcased designs that masterfully balanced a corporate aesthetic with practicality and innovation. The much-anticipated announcement of the winners revealed Nour Ezzeddine in first place, Hady Saleh in second place, and Sirine Kobeissi in third place. The esteemed Dr. Elie Haddad and Mrs. Joya Moawad, Executive Vice Chairman of OMT, presented each winner with a special trophy.
The top three students received financial awards to support their final year fashion projects. First place received $2,000, second place received $1,000, and third place received $800.
In the coming months, OMT will proudly implement the winning design, a testament to this successful collaboration.
