OMT settles inbound transfers in cash USD exclusively

In accordance with Banque du Liban’s intermediate circular 566, dated 6/8/2020, which requires all electronic money transfer companies to settle inbound money transfers in USD exclusively, all Western Union Agents in Lebanon will begin working accordingly starting Friday, August 7, 2020.

A 2% cash-handling fee is applied on inbound money transfers to manage USD liquidity, including shipping, transportation, insurance and distribution costs. The 2% fee appears on the receiver’s receipt under “رسوم إدارة النقد” (Cash management fee).
